New Year, New Me

I am aware that the saying is cliche but I am going to try and adopt the concept of "new year, new me" in 2015. I started a blog because I had a passion for it and then quickly decided that there are more important things I have to focus on. In the past few days I have been reflecting on what I want to achieve this year and the goals I want to set for myself to accomplish by the time December 31 comes along. One of these goals is to follow my passions, if it may be this blog, or it may not be. I am going to see where this idea takes me. For now though I want to continue with this blog and I'm excited to see where it goes. I will share the rest of my goals for the year in a later post. Get keen for 2015 dolls! xx

October Bella Box: Born to be Wild

The theme of the October Bella Box is Born to be Wild and is in conjunction with Nicole x Missguided which is Nicole Scherzinger's campaign with the clothing company. This box is special because it is also Bella's 3rd birthday and in celebration of this Bella have collaborated with Kester Black to create a nail polish line exclusive to it's customers. I luckily ended up with the colour "Ruby Tuesday" which I love! In my box I also received a bunch of ModelCo Skincare samples from their new skincare line, a sample size Nivea Stress Protect Deodorant, a Mor Neroli Clementine hand cream sample, a full sized Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in the shade Ravish and a sample size Pantene Daily Moisture Renewal Shampoo and Conditioner.
I am very happy with this months Bella Box and I'm excited to test out these products! If you would like to start your own Bella Box subscription just click here.

Lush Haul

I came to the realisation last week that I hadn't bought anything at Lush over winter which made me really sad because Winter is the season of baths! I probably love baths more than your Average Joe and will have them all year round but I thought I'd stock up on some products and take advantage of the slightly cooler spring nights before the Great Hot Australian Summer comes around. These are the products I got in my most recent little trip to Lush!

First of all I want to start by saying I did also get a Candy Mountain Bubble Bar but I was way too excited when I smelt it and used it before it could make it into the photo (woops!)

1. Melting Snowman Bath Melt
This is one of Lush's bath melts and it contains a blend of lots of essential oils so when you put it in the warm bath it melts to leave you with soft skin afterwards! I just thought it was so cute and you can only buy them around Christmas time so I thought it was a must-have.

2. Sparkler Bath Bomb
This bath bomb is one that Lush has brought out for Halloween but I'm not really sure why because its meant to mimic a little fireworks display which doesn't really have anything to do with Halloween but oh well. I've been told this one has little popping candy type things and  it crackles and sparkles in the water so I'm REALLY excited to test this one out!

3. Gold FUN.
Well let me tell you, FUN is definitely the right name for this stuff! It's basically mouldable playdough-like soap which releases lots of good stuff into your bath when you are playing around with it. It can also be crumbled under running water to make a bubble bath. The gold one is exclusive to Christmas time but there are many different colours that sell all year round. I love this stuff so much and I am definitely getting more!

4. Atomic Toothy Tabs
So I am not so sure how I feel about these. They are these little pills and you put one between your teeth but when you brush it dissolves into toothpaste. I got the atomic flavour which has a sort of chai taste to it. I hated the flavour when I was using it and it was definitely not what I expected, however about 10 minutes later I was left with a pleasant aftertaste. I would not recommend trying the wasabi flavour though...

5. Ickle Baby Bot Bath Bomb
I know this is meant for kids but I couldn't resist! It smelt so good and it was so cute! I also like using various baby products because they are made for sensitive skin and make your skin feel super soft and nice afterwards.

6. Butterball Bath Bomb
This bomb doesn't do anything fancy to the bath like make cool colours or glitter but it is supposed to be really moisturising and great for dry skin which is good for me cause sometimes my legs get really dry. It also smells amazing because it has got cocoa butter in it!Yum!

7. Space Girl Bath Bomb
Unlike the butterball this bath bomb does make your bath super colourful! It's got a deep berry scent that is really nice and I find it really relaxing. I'm really excited to use this one again!

Recipe: Homemade Sweet Peanut Butter

When I went to go buy peanut butter the other day I didn't find anything I really wanted so I was inspired to make my own! I wanted to make it a little bit healthier so I could layer it more onto my toast and I wanted to make it a little bit sweeter just for a different flavour. That is where I came up with my own recipe for a sweet peanut butter that is healthy and I also made mine vegan too. It was really simple and inexpensive to make as I just used the stuff that was in my cupboard at home. The three main ingredients used all have lots of health properties:

Peanuts

Peanuts are rich in monosaturated fats and antioxidants such as oleic acid which both  promote heart health. They are also good sources of vitamin E, niacin, folate, protein and manganese. Yay for peanuts!

Macadamia Oil

I used macadamia oil rather than an olive oil because of the nutty flavour and it is also very high in monosaturated fats and oleic acid too! As well as this it has an even balance of the essential fatty acids omega-3 and omegas-6. Although it is a little bit more expensive than other oils, I definitely recommend it because it is also good for skin and hair treatments which I will maybe make a post about later.

Rice Malt Syrup

This is a natural sweetener made from 100% brown rice which is vegan and an alternative to honey. It doesn't have fructose in it so it is suitable for people with fructose sensitivities, and it is gluten-free for people with a gluten intolerance. I chose it for this recipe because it is good for a lot of different types of people with different food allergies and it isn't as sweet as regular honey or other sweeteners so it doesn't overpower the peanuty taste,

That Broke Girl's Homemade Sweet Peanut Butter

Ingredients

300g unsalted peanuts
1 tbs macadamia oil
3 ts rice malt syrup
pinch of salt

Method

Roast the peanuts in a pan on a low-medium heat until just golden brown. Allow to cool. When the peanuts are room temperature put them into a food processor and blend until the nuts are coarse. For crunchy peanut butter: remove about 50g of the nuts (1/6th) and put them to the side. For smooth peanut butter: skip this step. Add in the macadamia oil, rice malt syrup and salt and blend in the processor for 1-2 minutes or until the mixture is of a paste consistency. If you need to after the 2 minutes, add a little bit more oil and blend some more. Once you are happy with the consistency you can add in the nuts that were taken out before and mix them into the mixture. You can either eat it now or set in the fridge for an hour before enjoying.

I would only recommend making a small amount like this at a time because it should only be keep in an airtight container in the fridge for no longer than 2 weeks.

Get The Look: Olivia Palermo

Olivia Palermo
I can not get over this look by Olivia Palermo, I mean WOW! I am actually in love with the combination of this flowy midi skirt and tied up denim shirt. It is topped off so perfectly with that big clutch and two-toned strappy heels. This is the perfect outfit to wear for the transition between winter and spring because the colour scheme is so perfect for the season and the denim shirt makes this outfit a little bit warmer for those nice sunny spring days where the air is fresh and crisp. I loved this outfit so much that I tracked down where you can find it for yourself too! I have provided a few different options so that you can pick whichever style you like best. If you have an outfit you want me to find, just let me know in the comments or email me!
